Alejandra St. Guillen Endorses David Halbert

BOSTON - Today, progressive activist and former At-Large Candidate Alejandra St. Guillen has endorsed David Halbert’s campaign for Boston’s open City Council At-large seat.

"I have known David for nearly 13 years and, in that time, I have witnessed his deep commitment to community and family,” said St. Guillen. “He has served across government sectors and has always done so with a sense of greater purpose and devotion to our humanity - he sees the best in all of us. He is the leader we need in this moment and to prepare us for the uncertainty ahead."

St. Guillen’s endorsement comes within a month of Halbert announcing his candidacy. Halbert announced on day one that he is running a people-powered campaign, refusing corporate PAC or police union money, and raised an impressive $35,000 in the first two weeks of his campaign.

“Alejandra’s commitment to progressive values, representation, and equity are central to who she is, and were the foundation of an incredible campaign that inspired tens of thousands across Boston,” said Halbert. “I am humbled by her support, thankful for her friendship, and grateful for her confidence that I can help lead our city – our shared home – successfully into the future.”

If elected, Halbert would be the first Black man directly elected citywide since Bruce Bolling in 1981. Halbert ran for City Council At-Large in 2019, where he was endorsed by the Right to the City Vote Coalition and the Boston Globe Editorial Board, among others.
