Progressive Leaders Endorse Halbert in At-Large Race
BOSTON - Today, David Halbert’s campaign for City Council At-Large announces a slate of endorsements from key progressive leaders and former candidates, including former candidate for the 8th Congressional District Robbie Goldstein, LGBTQ community activist and former candidate for State Representative (17th Suffolk) Jordan Meehan, and community organizer and former District 9 candidate Brandon Bowser.
“I’m honored to have the early support of such incredible progressive community leaders,” said Halbert. “Robbie, Jordan, and Brandon each ran for office on bold platforms for a better future and with the power of community behind them. I’m honored to have their endorsements and look forward to building on the progressive momentum of our campaign.”
This slate of progressive endorsements comes on the heels of Halbert announcing more than $50,000 raised for his campaign, as well as the endorsement of former At-Large Candidate Alejandra St. Guillen.
Endorsing Halbert, Goldstein shares that, “This year, we have an opportunity to bring fundamental, progressive change to Boston’s City Hall. Dave is the change agent that will move our city forward - with equity, with compassion, and with people-powered policies. He’s bold. He’s innovative. He’s exactly who we need on the Boston City Council.”
“Dave has proven to be a dynamic, community-oriented leader with a deep knowledge of policy,” remarks Meehan. “As Boston finds itself in the grips of multiple interconnected crises -- from COVID-19, housing affordability, economic inequity, racial injustice, and so much more -- we need new leaders who will upend the status quo, pursue bold progressive policies, and govern through a lens of justice and equity. I am confident that Dave will be such a leader and will help Boston become a more just and inclusive city that lives up to our ideals."
Bowser highlights Halbert’s experience, noting that "David has the experience, compassion, and knowledge required to be successful on day one. I’m confident in David’s vision and ability to build strong coalitions across the City of Boston. As a renter, I am grateful to have an ally in David, who will fight to increase the affordability percentage in new development projects and city-wide rent control. David’s experience working in government gives him the ability to plan and implement real change that will better position the City of Boston for life in the new normal. Above all- I am grateful that David is running for City Council because it makes me hopeful for what our city can become.”
